Critter Crops is a hand drawn spooky RPG and isometric farming sim from indie developer Skyreach Studios. You play as Sylvie, a young witch who has been banished from her home for the use of magic and has now traveled to the town of Mur Mur at the behest of a mysterious benefactor. Cultivate cute critters and use their abilities to explore the world of Mutter Island, a mysterious Halloween themed place that is known for its connection to magic. Rebuild and repopulate the island with magical folks from Otherworld while discovering the secrets and growing your magic.
Hand drawn by animator Teadora Kankaanpää creates a whimsical halloweeny universe full of spooky characters and environment design. It truly creates a unique feel to Mutter Island with it’s anthropomorphic buildings that watch you when you walk through your farm. Delightfully eerie character design for NPCs that show up as you help restore the town to working form as well as that move into a residential area you restore, keep with the horror vibes as you see a variety of beings from different cultures around the world.
The gameplay is an extremely relaxed pace as you skip from garden to town center to the residents area completing quests and learning about your magic powers. Don’t let the idyllic pace fool you, if you don’t keep an eye on your crops the critters will wilt and be unharvestable. As you upgrade your NPC shops and level up your magical skills you unlock new biomes, crops, learn the secrets of Mutter Island, and more. Choose between three magical paths as you learn spells to defend yourself against creatures that lurk in the biomes.
